Jens Bauer
Principal Investigator
Jens Bauer is an assistant professor in mechanical engineering and an Emmy-Noether Research Group Leader at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. He is leading the Nanoarchitected Metamaterials Laboratory at the Institute of Nanotechnology and is an associate principal investigator of the 3D Matter Made to Order Cluster of Excellence. Previously, he has been a staff scientist and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), after he had completed his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at KIT's Institute for Applied Materials.
Alina Sutygina
Postdoctoral Researcher
Alina holds a Ph.D. in engineering from the Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg, and a M.Sc. in condensed matter physics from Tomsk Polytechnic University. She joined the Nanoarchitects team in April 2023 to work on 3D-printed inorganic materials.
Rafaela Debastiani
Postdoctoral Researcher
Rafaela is a physicist and holds a Ph.D. in natural sciences from the University of Freiburg. She is a characterization expert with the Karlsruhe Nano Micro Facility, in charge of nano-computed tomography and jointed the Nanoarchitects team in 2024 to study composites.
Rui Li
Postdoctoral Researcher
Rui holds a Ph.D. in instrument science and technology from the University of Science & Technology of China. He is an expert in two-photon polymerization 3D-printing and sintering of inorganic nanostructures and joined the Nanoarchitects team in July 2024.
Jiajie Liang
Doctoral Researcher
Jiajie joined the Nanoarchitects team in November 2022. After obtaining a M.Sc. in materials science and engineering from KIT, he is since July 2023 conducting his doctoral research on the processing and characterization of 3D-printable materials.
Mirhan Özdemir
Doctoral Researcher
Mirhan is a mechanical engineer and completed his M.Sc. on the topology optimization of printed lattices at Özyeğin University, Turkey. He joined the Nanoarchitects team in April 2024 to work on novel metamaterial designs principles.
